Whenever we design an intervention for struggling readers, the single-most critical factor that will determine the success of the effort is matching struggling readers with texts they can actually read with a high level of accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
In Mamaroneck, we know that strategic bookmatching and time for voluminous reading is key. We also know that there are times when more specialized intervention focused on discrete skills is needed. Through assessment and data analysis of students’ assets and areas of need, we design targeted interventions that support students in their learning journeys. Depending on frequency, intensity and duration, these interventions can be provided in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. Specialized interventions include:
