English as a New Language

The Mamaroneck Union Free School District is proud to offer a robust ENL (English as a New Language) program designed to support multilingual learners from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our certified ENL teachers, holding New York State certification in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) or a bilingual extension, provide both Standalone and Integrated ENL instruction. These services are tailored to meet students’ diverse linguistic needs while ensuring full access to grade-level content and academic success.

The ENL program’s goals are to:

Develop students’ English language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

   •    Foster academic achievement by integrating language and content instruction across all subject areas.

   •    Support students’ social and emotional growth as they navigate a new language and culture.

   •    Celebrate and value the rich linguistic and cultural diversity that students bring to our schools.

Our program is dedicated to helping students thrive in a multilingual world, ensuring they feel confident and capable as they achieve their full potential.
