MHS Physical Education Department

Physical education is an essential part of our educational system for developing the “whole” individual. Our field contributes to the physical, mental, social and emotional growth of each and every student. The goal of our physical education department is to provide a quality program and positive experience desired for students to lead physically active and healthy lifestyles long after graduating high school. We challenge students to grow in character, self-confidence, and self-discipline. By creating a positive and engaging environment, students will improve their self-image to achieve a greater level of health and wellness.

Our primary goal is helping students become physically literate and gain the knowledge necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. The curriculum is diverse and offers a variety of team activities as well as individual pursuits. When students are exposed to a wide variety of movement opportunities they are more likely to find enjoyment and build confidence. The emphasis on building relationships and fostering a sense of community is the cornerstone of our curriculum. A positive environment fosters risk taking and helps students build social skills that are essential to growth and development of the whole child.
