Elementary Code of Conduct
I. WE ARE SENSITIVE TO THE NEEDS AND FEELINGS OF OTHERS
This means:
* We are willing to help others
* We are friendly and courteous
* We hold the door for each other and guests
* We do not embarrass or tease other children
II. WE SHOW RESPECT FOR LEARNING
This means:
* We arrive at school on time
* We take care of our materials
* We are prepared for class
* We demonstrate serious and receptive attention in our daily work
* We do our homework thoughtfully, carefully, and complete it on time
* We treat other students' work with respect and consideration
* We do not disrupt our class
* We accept each other as learners and know that making mistakes is part of learning.
III. WE SETTLE OUR DIFFERENCES IN A PEACEFUL MANNER
This means:
* We do not fight with, kick, hit or in any way hurt another child or person
* We discuss and problem-solve situations that anger or worry us
IV. WE MOVE SAFELY AND RESPECTFULLY THROUGH THE SCHOOL
This means:
* We remember that others are working; therefore, we walk quietly and in an orderly manner
* We do not play in bathrooms
* We do not run in halls or up and down stairs
V. WE COMMUNICATE RESPECTFULLY
This means:
* We do not curse or tease
* We address each other courteously
* We never boo or whistle in the classroom or at an assembly
* We show our appreciation in the classroom and at assemblies with polite applause
VI. WE LISTEN TO THE DIRECTIONS OF THE ADULTS IN CHARGE
This means:
· We follow the instructions of adults
· We do not leave an area without permission
VII. WE RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES’ PROPERTY AND PERSONAL SPACE
This means:
* We do not take anything that belongs to another person without permission
* We do not touch another person in a harmful way
* We do not touch other people unless invited to
VIII. WE PLAY SAFELY IN THE GYM, OR ON THE PLAYGROUND
This means:
* We share the play areas with goodwill and good sportsmanship
* We clean up and return equipment promptly and carefully when finished
* We do not “play-fight”, wrestle, push, shove, trip, jump on each other, or otherwise engage in rough play
* We do not throw snowballs or anything at each other or over fences
* We use equipment correctly; e.g., we do not walk "up" slides
