Central School Resources
Students may begin arriving daily at 8:20am. Many of our families walk or bike to school; however, if you choose to come by car, you may either park and walk your child to the LGI doors (outside classroom door for kindergarten only), OR you may use our CATS option.
CATS is organized by parents who volunteer to take students out of cars as they pull up into our circle out front. This eliminates the need to park your vehicle.
Please note, we do not have adult supervision available earlier than 8:20 and the school doors will remain locked until that time – so please plan accordingly. Please do not send your child up to the main doors to wait in the lobby as that is not considered a supervised location. If you require supervision for your child prior to 8:20, please consider enrolling him/her in Children’s Corner which is located here in the building. Information may be found on the website or you may pick up forms in the main office.
Between 8:20 and 8:40am, students may enter the building through the red doors by the flagpole. Students in grades K-2 will go directly into the LGI. Staff will be there to direct them and they will sit by grade/class. Students in grades 3 – 5 will enter through the same doors and our staff will direct them to continue down the hallway to the large gym where they will gather by grade/class. Staff is on hand in both locations to supervise students. Teachers will pick their class up at 8:40am when the first bell rings and escort them to their classroom to begin the instructional day.
Kindergarten: All kindergarten students will be dismissed by their teacher to a parent/guardian/ caregiver from their classrooms using their outside classroom door.
First Grade: All first grade students will be dismissed by their teacher to a parent/guardian/caregiver on the upper blacktop area of the first grade playground.
Second Grade: All second grade students will be dismissed by their teacher to a parent/guardian/ caregiver on the lower blacktop area near the large field in the front.
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade: All third, fourth and fifth grade students will be dismissed by their teacher to a parent/guardian/caregiver on the lower blacktop area near the large field UNLESS parents designate their child as a “walker”. As a “walker,” we ask that parents use the Dismissal Procedure – Grades 3-5 Form to indicate one of the two “walker” dismissal locations:
- The door outside the computer lab near Trader Joe’s
- The front, lower blacktop area in front of the school
Please note, In order to ensure an organized dismissal, all parents/guardians/caregivers picking up on the lower blacktop are asked to wait near the fence until the bell rings at 3:00 PM. This allows all classes the opportunity to assemble themselves on the blacktop before the bell. There will be staff members outside to direct you where to wait. Signs will be posted on the building so you can easily see where your child’s class will be gathering each afternoon.
Please be aware that we do not have adult supervision provided by the school if you and/or your child choose to stay and socialize on our playgrounds after dismissal. They are beautiful spaces and certainly we welcome you to use them, but we ask that parents/caregivers keep a close eye on their child to ensure that everyone is safe and that it’s an enjoyable time for all. Students who are walkers and choose to stay on the grounds for any period of time must adhere to all safety rules that exist during the school day. If a student does not conduct him/herself in a safe and acceptable manner, they risk losing the privilege of remaining on school grounds after 3:00 PM.
Thank you for your cooperation!
