Mission Statement:
School nurses are members of school educational teams striving for safety, good health and optimal learning of children and staff in their care. They act as an advocate for the students' emotional, physical and educational well-being.
School Immunization Requirements for the 2021-2022 School Year based on NYSDOH amended regulations effective September 1, 2021:
MMR (grades K-12)
- 2 doses of measles and mumps vaccines and 1 dose of rubella vaccine (MMR)
DTaP (grades K-12)
- 5 doses of diphtheria and tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine and acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP) required for entrance
- If 4th dose received at 4 years of age or older, only 4 doses required
- If 7 years or older and the series was started at 1 year or older, only 3 doses required
Polio (grades K -12)
- 3-4 doses as long as 1 dose is received after 4 years of age
- If 3rd dose received at 4 years of age or older, only 3 doses required
Meningococcal (grades 7, 8, 9,10 and 11)
- 1 dose for grade 7,8, 9,10 and 11)
- 1-2 doses for grade 12 -1 dose if given on or after 16 years of age or 2 doses of vaccine with the booster dose given on or after 16 years of age
Varicella (grades K -12)
- 2 doses
Hepatitis B (grades K -12)
- 3 doses
Tdap (grades 6 -12)
- 1 dose
