Human Resources

Our district consists of about 5,600 students whose families reside in either Mamaroneck or Larchmont. We have four neighborhood elementary schools (Central, Chatsworth, Mamaroneck Ave. School and Murray), a middle school for grades 6-8 (Hommocks) and Mamaroneck High School. We are located in close proximity -- 18 miles -- to New York City and along the Long Island Sound.

Most families move to the area for our schools, and the schools continue to be a cornerstone in the community for the families whose children are grown and graduated.

The community as a whole cares deeply about the quality of our schools. We are known for our award winning arts programs, including our nationally-renowned performing arts program, our music program and our fine arts.

We’re fortunate to have very active, supportive PTAs and a Mamaroneck Schools Foundation which since its inception in 1996 has awarded more than 360 grants totaling more than $3.1 million-for innovative, teacher-initiated projects that fall beyond the scope of the district budget.

Mamaroneck has experienced a steady growth in enrollment over the past several years, and we are proud to be a district that is both ethnically and economically diverse. Currently, our population consists of about 19% Hispanic students 72% White; 2 % African American; 5% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 2% Multi-racial students. More than 12% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. About 12% of our students are classified as Special Education students and receive special services.

Our focus is on creating an educational environment in which every student is well-known and feels sense of connection. Our curriculum is rigorous, and our teachers are committed to the goal of helping each student develop to his/her full potential.

Across all levels, Mamaroneck prides itself on the depth and breadth of educational programs that we offer. From our Mandarin program at MHS (one of the oldest high school Mandarin programs in the country) to our dual language English-Spanish program housed at Mamaroneck Avenue School, an emphasis is placed on providing students with authentic learning experiences and opportunities to thoroughly develop their critical thinking skills. We look forward to sharing more!
