Ariana Cohen (Term expires 6/30/2024)
Ariana is a seasoned school administrator and social worker who has lived in Larchmont for eight years with her family, serving in volunteer positions at various schools in our community. Ariana is currently an active clinical social worker and part of the founding team at Milestones Psychology Group in New York City, a group of highly specialized clinicians who collaborate to provide evidence-based assessments and treatment for both children and parents. Prior to her current role at Milestones, Ariana served as the Associate Head of School at Columbia Grammar, where she had also served as a Dean of Students and as the school's head social worker. Before her work at Columbia, Ariana spent several years as a social worker at various public schools in the city, including Sankofa Academy Charter School (Brooklyn, NY), where she worked with displaced teens, and MS 254 (Bronx, NY), as well as volunteer work with The Fresh Air Fund, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and The Association for Anorexia & Associated Disorders. Ariana received her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University, and her BA in Psychology from Lehigh University. Ariana lives in Larchmont with her husband and three children, all of whom are currently enrolled in the Mamaroneck Public School system (Murray Avenue and Hommocks). Ariana is serving her fifth year on the Board.

Athena Maikish (Term expires 6/30/2025)
Athena is a seasoned leader, operator and communicator with deep quantitative skills. She has her PhD in Education Development from NYU, an MA from Teachers College in Educational Administration and a BA from Dartmouth College in Economics with a minor in Education. After a successful second career in start-up tech at Uber and eBay/StubHub, Athena now dedicates her time and energy to supporting organizations that strengthen the educational opportunities and safety nets for all children including active roles in the Central PTA and the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Girl Scouts. Athena started her career in consulting and researching, and then teaching. She taught and coached middle and high school students. She has used her strong analytical and data skills along with a keen understanding of organizations to consult and research for leading global organizations such as Accenture, Goldman Sachs, Save the Children, The World Bank, UNESCO and others. Athena lives in Mamaroneck with her wife Christine (who grew up and attended Mamaroneck public schools) and their three children. Their two oldest children attend Central School and their youngest child will join them in a few years.

Andrene Smith (Term expires 6/30/2024)

Andrene  -- a previous member of the District's Enrollment Task Force and currently serving on the District Equity Team -- is Managing Counsel for Government Affairs at the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. In her current role, she identifies, analyzes, and sets strategy in response to emerging federal and international legislation and regulations of interest to the company. She manages a portfolio of issues, with a primary concentration on operational and cyber resilience and also works closely with regulators, policymakers, and trade associations on environmental, social, and governance issues, including climate change risks, diversity & inclusion, and corporate social responsibility.  Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Andrene was Director of Policy Development at Prudential, and before that, an Associate at Baker Hostetler LLP, where she was a corporate litigator with significant experience in international litigation. She also served as a member of the Government Policy team, actively lobbying Congress on issues of importance to the insurance and financial services industries. Andrene received a BA from Stanford University, an MBA from Schiller International University (Paris campus), and a JD from Georgetown University. She is a member of the New York State and Washington, DC bar associations and formerly served as President of the Stanford National Black Alumni Association in Washington, DC. Andrene is the Vice Chair of the board of directors of Girls Inc. Westchester.

Sally Cantwell (Term expires 6/30/2024)

A long-term Larchmont resident, Sally has raised her family here after relocating from London over twenty years ago while managing her career as the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Global Corporate Services with Goldman Sachs.  

Sally has been an active member of our community, having served in, or now serving in, leadership roles in many non-profit organizations that support the families that live here.  Sally has been in the President role of the PT Council of Mamaroneck Schools, the Hommocks Middle School PTA, the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation, as well as the Windward School PTA.  In addition to her work as a trustee of the Board of Education, Sally is also a Steering Committee member on the Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force and was involved in the creation of the Coalition for Community.  The Coalition is a consortium of local nonprofits, social service agencies, and houses of worship that work cooperatively to develop solutions that address the needs of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck community, especially in the face of crises such as those that arose during the pandemic as well as the recent flood emergencies in fall 2021.

David Carlos (Term expires 6/30/2026)

David and his wife Dana have lived in Larchmont for over a decade. In that time, he has become an active community member, working with various organizations, including Hope Community Services, Community Resource Center, I Love Larchmont, and Larchmont Temple. He has also served as a coach for Mamaroneck/Larchmont Rec Soccer and the Larchmont Mamaroneck Basketball Association Coach.

In his professional life, David serves as the head of Savills Nonprofit & Education Advisory Practice, a global real estate advisory firm that advises nonprofits and schools on how to best optimize their real estate to fulfill their mission. His experience involves space utilization studies, financial analysis, negotiating with developers and municipalities, managing architects and contractors, budgeting, leasing/purchasing/selling buildings and land, developing buildings, etc.

David is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S. in Consumer Economics). He and Dana have four children in the school district who attend middle and elementary schools.

Michele Metsch (Term expires 6/30/26)

Michele is serving in her first year on the Board of Education and has been an active community leader since moving to Larchmont in 2003.  She has held numerous positions in organizations such as the Larchmont Newcomers Club, Larchmont Temple and The Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center.

Michele has extensive experience in the MUFSD. She has held several PTA positions including as the Co-Chair of the Student Support Committee (formerly the Special Education PTA known as SEPTA),a member of the District Equity Team, and as a Steering Committee member of the district’s Enrollment Task Force.  Michele also currently serves as the Chair of the Camp Council of The URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy, a non-profit STEM summer camp. 

Michele graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Child Development and a Certificate in Community Health. She holds a Doctor of Psychology Degree in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University. Michele worked with children, adolescents, and families in several clinical settings prior to having children and engaging in work in her community. Michele currently lives in Larchmont with her husband, three children (2 currently enrolled MUFSD students and one recent MUFSD graduate) and her golden retriever.
