Mamaroneck High School extended a warm welcome on Monday to the Chinese exchange students visiting this week from our sister school, Shanghai Experimental School (SES). Following a ceremony in McLain Auditorium with songs and remarks, the students visited classrooms and participated in varied activities including, among other things, Cooking class with Chef Luff, Clay with Mr. Dollar and English lessons with Ms. Whalen, Ms. Albert, and Mr. Bosch. Yesterday, they went shopping at Woodbury Commons, and today they will visit West Point. Each year, it is wonderful to see the bonds that form between our MHS host families and the SES students. The Chinese students typically come here in the fall, and MHS students travel to China in the spring. Thank you to our Chinese teachers and administration for making these exchange visits possible.
"The SES teachers spoke highly of the MHS Chinese program after seeing the welcome ceremony and really appreciate the families hosting students as well as the hospitality of the MHS administration, teachers and students," MHS Chinese Teacher Michelle Liu said. "We will say our goodbyes to SES students tomorrow, as they head out to visit some U.S. colleges. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of their stay in the U.S. and wish them a safe trip back home.
