Letter from the Board of Education
March 26, 2021
Dear Mamaroneck Families,
At a National Safe School Reopening Summit earlier this week, Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona and CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky spoke about all that has been learned over the past year. Secretary Cardona emphasized that "we have better information about what works and what strategies we can employ, not just in our schools but in our communities to keep our communities safe. We also have the luxury of seeing where it has worked and why it has worked".
We are grateful to our entire nursing staff and District physician, Dr. Ann Engelland, who have been at the forefront of ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols and NYS quarantine requirements. At this time, NYSDOH has not officially changed the Travel Guidelines. Despite the fact that the Governor announced that "Domestic travelers will no longer be required to quarantine entering NY starting April 1st," MUFSD must follow the March 10th Travel Guidelines, until this declaration is adopted by NYSDOH .
Please keep our staff, teachers and students in mind if you are planning to travel or gather in large groups over the break, and make thoughtful and respectful choices. We encourage everyone to understand and take seriously that a safe, healthy, and successful return to school really lies in the hands of each one of us.
A happy and joyful holidays to all who are celebrating and thank you for your continued support and consideration.
