The budget is the District's financial plan to support academic programs and operations at all six schools. Following the Superintendent's Recommended Budget presentation to the Board and community March 3, 2020, the Board asked the administration to go back and look at areas where expenditures could be reduced. The administration spent several weeks revisiting the budget and presented $1.1 million in identified possible reductions -- primarily coming from staff consolidations/efficiencies -- to the Board on March 31, 2020. Dr. Shaps said the annual budget election for all districts throughout New York has been delayed by the Governor's Executive Order to June 1 or beyond. "Due to the public health crisis and national economic crisis, information is changing by the minute. The delay in the budget election will give us a chance to understand what's unfolding before we have to finalize our budget and to look at new information coming from the State's budget on the Revenue side, including State sales tax, aid and interest income," the Superintendent said. Dr. Shaps also noted that the District continues to closely watch enrollment numbers (projected to decrease slightly in the 2020-21 school year) and plan accordingly.
