MHS Robotics Qualifies for NY Regional Championship at SUNY Polytechnic (Utica, NY) March 13-14Following three months of hard work creating a robot for competition, Mamaroneck Robotics participated in the FIRST FTC New York State Excelsior Region Qualifying Tournament this past weekend at Peekskill High School. Based on the competition goals, the team brainstormed, used computer-aided design and designed custom components for the robot. Throughout the process, work was documented, and many challenges were overcome. The team's mission consisted of a fully autonomous component and a driver controlled component.
At the event, Mamaroneck competed against 22 teams in round robin style matches and then a playoff bracket style championship round. Teamwork and strategy were integral. In additional to the actual game, teams went through rigorous judging based on formal presentations, robot design, coding, outreach, and team management. All team members demonstrated a high level of knowledge about the robot, resulting in the following awards:
With these awards, Mamaroneck now qualifies for the NY State Excelsior Region Championship at SUNY Polytechnic (Utica, NY) March 13-14, 2020. Congratulations to all Mamaroneck Robotics team members and to MHS Robotics Adviser/Engineering Teacher Jim Love! © 2016 School Name |
