It's a Rainy Monday, but there were Lots of Bright Spots from the Weekend!Mamaroneck High School Students Receive 'Best Large Delegation' at Yale University's 25th Annual Model Congress Conference Mamaroneck High School's Model Congress Club students competed this past weekend in Yale University's 25th Annual Model Congress conference -- along with more than 750 students representing 34 schools from across the country -- and were named "Best Large Delegation", a recognition MHS last earned back in 2012. Students debated original legislation on topics ranging from climate change and cryptocurrency to nuclear arms production.
In addition to the group honor, a host of other students won individual awards. More on that in the upcoming December Tiger Tracks. Model Congress is one of the oldest clubs at Mamaroneck High School and is completely student run, with the guidance of club advisers Lauren Albert and Albert Paez. Club members talk frequently about the skills they learn through their involvement and how these skills transfer to other areas of their lives. MHS On The Map for Debate! At the State level, four of our students joined guest conductors from various universities this past weekend at the NYSSMA All-State conference in Rochester, including: Eddie Kam, Vocal Jazz Ensemble
The Board of Education at its meeting last week recognized 26 MHS students who were accepted into Area All-State. (These students represented more than 8% of the students from across the State who participated in the Area All-State concert at the Performing Arts Center at SUNY Purchase in November.)
