Letter from the Director of Communications
Dear Community Members,
As we conclude the first few months of this school year, we want to remind you of the ways in which we inform community members of Mamaroneck School District news and happenings. Each of our schools uses various vehicles for communicating at the building level -- and includes a few key District items in their weekly newsletters -- but here we are referring to communications channels at the "District" level, relevant to all of our schools.
Urgent Communications
Urgent District communication is distributed via our One Call Now system. To receive communications (automated phone calls, emails), please make sure your family's information is up-to-date in the Parent Portal. If you would like to receive texts in the event of a school delay/closure due to weather or any other urgent announcement, please text the word ALERT to 22300. (You will receive District text messages as long as the phone number you are texting from is listed in the Parent Portal.)
Non-Urgent Email Communications
We send out "non-urgent" Mamaroneck School District communications (eNotices, including press releases, announcements, Tiger Tracks - the District newsletter) via our website's eNotify system.
NOTE: It has come to our attention that some community members have not been receiving these emails. We have attempted to resolve this issue and hope that if you were not receiving our communications since September that you will be now! Just in case you missed some emails, here is a link to this school year's archive.
Website
In addition to the website homepage, www.mamkschools.org, we have a District News page that can be found by selecting District at the top and then "News". Included on that page is "Sign-Up to Receive District News and Information" online form for community members who do not have children in our schools.
Social Media
Facebook - You can receive MUFSD information in your news feed by "Liking" Mamaroneck Public Schools on Facebook. (Currently, the District has 3,500+ Facebook followers)
Twitter - Follow the District on Twitter: Our Twitter handle is @MamaroneckED. Followers can set up their preferences to receive Tweets via text message.
Instagram - Search for/follow us on Instagram @mamaroneck_public_schools. We often share favorite photos from our schools and classrooms.
Mamaroneck School District App
Our new mobile app provides parents, students, and faculty members with all the District information you need in one place. Search "Mamaroneck Public Schools" in the App store or Google Play for easy access to News, Calendars, Directory (email staff members right from the app), Athletics, Social Media, Parent Tools & more. We are pleased to report that nearly 900 community members have downloaded the app to date. Read more on the app here.
On a separate but related note, we love to hear from alumni who are doing amazing things and want to share their stories with the Mamaroneck-Larchmont community. Let's keep in mind one of our favorite lines - "Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger." We hope you will stay in touch and enable us to celebrate our school district family one story at a time!
Wishing all of our Mamaroneck Tigers, past & present, a wonderful holiday season.
Regards,
Debbie Manetta
