![]() ![]() Congratulations to our very own Coach Michael Chiapparelli, who was inducted last night into the NY State Baseball Hall of FameCoach Chap ("A Legend in Black Shorts") Makes a Difference Both On and Off the Field: Winning in Baseball and Hockey is Only Part of the Hall of Famer's Story
If you ask Coach Chap about his motivation for helping others, he'll inevitably say, "Anything for my community." And "his community" it is. Coach Chap graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1974 and starred in baseball and football for the Tigers, later returning to his alma mater as a physical education teacher and to pursue his dream of coaching. Coach Chap has produced three New York State class AA baseball championships, an ice hockey Division I NY State Championship and 12 Sectional Championships between the two sports, among countless other athletic honors.
From cheering on special education students (whom he works with as a PE teacher and also involves regularly with his sports teams), to serving as birthday party facilitator for literally hundreds of students over the years, hosting "Chappy Prom" for his baseball team members who have historically had to miss the real prom because of playoffs, and bartending on weekends at the Larchmont Tavern, Coach Mike Chiapparelli is a staple in the Larchmont-Mamaroneck community.
On behalf of Mamaroneck Schools and the entire community, we wish Coach Mike Chiapparelli, the newest NY State Baseball Hall of Fame member (inducted in Troy, NY on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019) our heartiest congratulations! © 2016 School Name |
