'Start with Hello' Campaign Happening This Week at Hommocks Middle SchoolThis week, Hommocks Middle School kicked off a building-wide "Start With Hello" (SWH) Week (modeled after the annual Sandy Hook Promise SWH national campaign) to raise awareness and educate students to be a more connected, inclusive community. SWH Week supports the Mamaroneck School District's commitment to making students from every background feel welcome and accepted. With themes and suggested activities for each day of the week, all Hommocks students and staff were encouraged to participate in activities to promote this awareness. Hommocks health teachers taught lessons from the SWH curriculum, and social studies teachers introduced the initiative in their classrooms. Students participated in "Theme Days" throughout the week (see below) and also were encouraged to spread this message into our community to increase the reach beyond Hommocks. It has been an extraordinary week! Next year, the plan is to have student leaders organize this initiative. Special thanks to the following teachers and staff members who volunteered their time and resources to make SWH happen:
