Athletic Awards
Athlete of the Week
Each week during the school year the athletic department, in conjunction with teachers and coaches, recognizes a varsity student-athlete who has displayed outstanding athletic achievement, strong personal character and has graciously represented the Mamaroneck Public School District. The individual selected appears on MHS Info for a brief presentation of his or her accomplishments, in addition to having their Athlete of the Week certificate displayed in the windows of the athletic office. Athletes of the Week also receive a framed certificate of their own and a voucher good for a complimentary sandwich and drink from the Fratelli Delicatessen. League & Sectional AwardsAll-League and All-Section awards are selected by coaching organizations associated with each individual sport as well as the local media outlets. Coaches nominate select players from his or her respective team and these nominations are then voted on by the coaching membership and select media representatives. These awards are provided by each individual coaching association. It is important to understand that while "your" coach does have input in the awards selection process, he or she does not have the final decision about who does and does not receive recognition. Remember that like you, the student-athlete who strives to be the best, your coach is also striving to do their best.
