Welcome to The MHS Music Department!

The Mamaroneck High School Music Department is comprised of Band, Orchestra, Concert Choir, Men's and Women's Ensembles, Swing Choir and a variety of a cappella groups.

A typical concert season includes a wide variety of performances, including the Emelin Honors Recital in November; the Winter Concert and Met Life Building performance (in NYC) in December; Area All-State Band, Orchestra and Chorus; Swing Choir performs at a national festival in January; the New York State School Music Association Solo Festival in the spring, and the Spring Concert in late May.

Music Faculty include Mrs. Lunetta Knowlton, District Coordinator of Music and Choral Director; Tim Hooker, Band Director; Alex Romanov, Orchestra Director; William Derby, Vocal/Choral Music Director.

The Music Department has many leadership opportunities for students, including the annual fruit sale in October and November, and membership in Tri-M, a national music honor society.

The Music Parents Association provides an opportunity for parents of music students of all ages to participate in the planning of fundraising events.

MUSIC

INSTRUMENTAL COURSES

Band and orchestra meet in a regular class period. All other music performance classes meet before school, during lunch or after classes. Performances include concerts, competitions, festivals and other appropriate activities.
