Loretta Poccia Acheson ‘61) News Update Since graduating MHS in ‘90, I attended
Syracuse University (‘94) and majored in Broadcast Journalism. While in
college, I studied in London for one semester (spring of ‘93) and besides
gaining worldly knowledge, I met my wife who was attending the University of
Colorado. I moved out to Berkeley, California to live with her after graduation.
My first job was in the news business as a production assistant at the CBS
affiliate in San Francisco. In May of 1996, I started working for American Golf
Corporation as Group Sales Manager. Now I work for Wind River, a software
company that produces the Real Time Operating Sytem which runs many high-tech
devices, such as digital cameras, cell phones, netwroking routers and swithces,
etc. I have seen many fellow MHS alums in amazing places since graduation...we
really get around. Also, my wife and I were very honored that so many friends
and family came out to California for our wedding in June of 1997. I am very
happy with where I am and what I am doing, and who I am married to, but I wish I
could see my family and friends more often and visit the old town haunts. I

Who knew MHS even had a website? Apparently a lot more people than me! In any event, I spent a few years at Cornell and then Penn State and did indeed get a degree in meteorology. Moved to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale in 1995 and worked for various television stations for 7+ years. After having my fill of the television business, I moved to San Diego in 2002 to work for San Diego County as an Air Pollution Meteorologist. Oh, by the way, our weather is nicer than yours - I don't care where you live! Drop me a line if you're swinging through San Diego and I'll buy you a beer. Feel free to just say hello as well. It would be great to hear from some people that are much more successful than me so they can offer me a really high paying job, haha. I get back to Mamaroneck once or twice a year to visit the folks. I definitely miss Sal's, because no one outside of New York has any idea how to make a pizza.

So strange to read all of these names. I've been away so long, it's really brought back so many memories. I'm living in Seattle now where I live with my amazing wife Deryn and two wonderful kids Blake, and Caitlin. I just finished my first feature film, OUTSOURCED, after toiling in the industry for quite a while as a director of photography and editor. Wow, how fast time flies! Life moves fast with two kids in tow. I’m living north of Boston in Newburyport. I’m still working Varian Semiconductor, it’s almost ten years now. Back working full time and loving the challenge of work, kids and family. Every time I'm in Boston I swear I see a familiar MHS face going the opposite direction on an escalator. Comments: Let's see, how to condense 9 years into a few sentences? Well, I got my
Bachelors from Colgate in psychology, then went up to Boston and got my masters in mental
health counseling. While there, a fellow MHS alum, Alicia Allen, introduced me to Colin
Page from MIT. Colin and I got married in August of 1997. We lived in D.C. for two years
while Colin finished law school and then in August of 1998 we moved to New Jersey, where
we plan to stay. I am certified as a therapist and am working on getting my license. I
work for Catholic Charities as the intake supervisor for their therapeutic foster care
program while my husband works for a labor and employment law firm. We are doing well and
are saving to buy a house. I get up to Mamaroneck frequently because my family is still in
the area although I haven't yet ventured back into the school!"

After finishing a fellowship at the Southern Poverty Law Center, I inexplicably decided to stay in Montgomery, Alabama and now work at the Central Alabama Fair Housing Center. I do housing discrimination work, plus work on land retention in rural, minority communities. I can't imagine why you'd ever be passing through Montgomery, but if you are, give a shout. Actually, Atlanta is quite close too.

Previous Comments: Spent 7 years in the us Air Force and during this time, I spent a year living in Korea and spent time in Saudi Arabia, Honduras and various other hole in the wall countries working in Secure telecommunications. Got out about 2 years ago and began working for a rather large ISP called UUNET Technologies. My first year was spent traveling all over the US building hubs for the company and my second year was spent living and traveling all over Europe and Scandinavia designing and building new internet hubs. Recently I transferred back to Virginia, just outside DC., and am now happy to be strapped to a desk as a manager. That's about it and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

Hello again class of '90. I hope this update finds everyone enjoying life as much as possible during these difficult times. Still working in the Corporate Travel Biz. Since 9/11, as you can imagine, the industry has changed significantly. Now with the war, and SARS, it makes me wonder whether the person who coined the phrase waiting for the other shoe to drop, was waiting on a centipede. But we've come through it so far better then most (knock, knock). We finally moved into our house in Armonk, and love being back in Westchester. Our son Jack will be 2 next month. I love him to death, but the terrible 2's have fully kicked in. I now know my mother must have dealt in the black arts, as her warning of me having a son who will act as I did, is proving to me true. Sandy and I are expecting our 2nd son in August, 3 more and we can replace the Knicks starting 5. Well, thats it for now. Again, I wish you all the best.
