As freshmen, students will be part of an English/Social Studies team in which they will study Global History up to 1750. Students will work with a variety of materials including a history text, primary source materials, other non-fiction works, plays, short stories, novels and poetry. Carefully designed interdisciplinary assignments will help and challenge students - regardless of their ability - to build vocabulary, to improve both their reading comprehension and writing ability, and to develop research and public-speaking skills. Through thematic studies, students will learn to view themselves in relation to other cultures and be more able to understand the universal issues facing all people.
