During the School Day
- Book Clubs
For proficient readers in K, 1, 2 & 3---children meet once a week
with a designated staff member.
- Math Olympiad
A program for 4th & 5th grade students that challenges and stimulates
participants to solve complex math problems. Students work cooperatively and
experience the thrill of discovery associated with creative problem solving.
- Galaxy Science Program
For all 3rd graders, it's an interactive system, dubbed SNOOPS, that
uses technology in investigative science studies. Students make observations and share
logical deductions with others around the country.

Accelerated Reader
A computerized reading program for grades 2-5. Accelerated Reader
motivates students to read more and better books. Students read selections at their own
pace, and then take a computerized comprehension test. All individually paced, the program
provides a tremendous sense of achievement for everyone.
- Principal's weekly quizzes and
brain-stumpers
- The entire school tries to solve the principal's quizzes.
- Today in History
Significant occurrences in history are shared regularly with the school
as part of the principal's morning announcements.
- Chess at Lunch
A program for interested 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Students learn
the game and some of the strategies that go with it. .
- Community Performing Arts Program-Lincoln
Center
Performing artists from the Lincoln Center Institute work with
participating teachers to integrate and extend the arts into classroom programs in the
areas of music, dance, theater, art.
- DARE
A 10-week drug awareness program for 5th graders.
- Technology
An integral part of the classroom, computers are used in the classroom
and lab for writing, publishing, reporting, research and communicating inside and outside
the district.

In addition to
the school day:
- Chess club
Interested students enhance problem-solving strategies while learning
the game of chess.

Co-Op Camp
A summer program mainly for Mamaroneck Avenue students which combines academics with
athletics.
- Amigos
High school students give extra help after school and become real friends with Latino
children.
- Literacy/Homework Center
An extended day, after-school program for 3rd-5th graders focusing on
homework assignments as well as providing some additional reading support.
- Reading Support
A program for 1st, 2nd and 4th graders before school starts.
- Computer Lab
- Extended hours in the mornings, after school and during lunch
for students to do research, expand on class assignments, or utilize educational
software. Students may also use these times to take a test for Accelerated Reader.

The PTA coordinates a wide range of after school activities for grades K-5.
- PTA & Community Volunteer
Programs
- An integral part of our school family, enriching and expanding the curriculum. Includes
Hitachi Mentors, A.L.I.V.E., and the Hadassah Read, Write Now Program.
- Languages at lunch
Parents offer 4 different languages one day a week for students in grades 1-5.
- Stories at lunch
Parents read stories at lunch to students in grades 2-5, following up with a craft
activity.
- Lunch club
- Parents design activities for K-1 students.
