The Hommocks Curriculum, Programs and Services

Hommocks provides a school environment reflecting a strong, student-centered educational philosophy. Curricular and extra-curricular programs are designed to respond to the full range of intellectual and developmental needs of the middle school age group. A balanced educational curriculum of core and high-interest exploratory courses is taught through a variety of teaching styles, methods and materials. Emphasis is on "how" to learn as well as "what" to learn.

Nurse

Fax Number:  220-3317

School Nurses are members of school educational teams striving for safety, good health, and optimal learning of children and staff in their care.

A registered nurse is available at The Hommocks between the hours of 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Mon. - Fri. to care for those students who feel sick or are injured. If a child needs to go home, a parent/guardian or emergency contact is first notified.

In addition to emergency care, some of the school nurse responsibilities are: dispensing prescribed medications with orders from a student's physician, scheduling and assisting with school and sports physical exams and sports certification and assisting in the completion of working papers.

School nurses are also available to students and staff as a health counselor and resource and encourage parents to utilize them in that capacity. Confidentiality is always practiced.
