    Our Mission

The Hommocks Middle School is a unique and diverse school community. It is here that the four district elementary schools come together for the first time. Here the students grow from children to adolescents and learn to deal with the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual significance of these changes. They have the opportunity to seek out challenges, take risks, develop decision making skills, explore new interests and assume greater responsibility. And, it is here that they begin to truly see the implications of their academic endeavors.

The Hommocks, in partnership with the wider community, is dedicated to providing a developmentally appropriate atmosphere that promotes intellectual engagement, thoughtful inquiry, self-reliance and good citizenship. A balanced and comprehensive curriculum is taught through a variety of instructional methods designed to help each student reach his or her academic potential. High expectations, personal concern and the warmth of the Hommocks' staff combine with the enthusiasm of young adolescents to develop and maintain a dynamic learning environment.

It is our mission to graduate students who are literate, numerate, know how to think critically and creatively, lead healthy lives, behave ethically, and assume the responsibilities of citizens in a pluralistic society.
