CSE and CPSE Parent Members Needed Under New York State law, a Parent Member is required to be in attendance at all CPSE and full CSE meetings! The Special Education Department is looking for additional parents who can volunteer to serve as Parent Members. You are eligible if you are the parent of a classified student, or a student who was declassified within the past five years. Parents of Section-504 students are not eligible, nor are employees of the Mamaroneck school district. As a Parent Member you will: · Participate in discussions involving eligibility for Special Education services and IEP development; · Provide information and support to the parent of the student being referred to the Committee; · Help ensure that the parent understands and is comfortable with the evaluation process; · Ensure all parent concerns are addressed. If you have as little as one half day per month,
please consider serving in this vital capacity. The amount of time you
devote is at your discretion, and all meetings occur during school
hours. A two-hour training workshop is required. SEPTA is confident
that you will find being a Parent Member a worthwhile and educational
experience. For information about training or if you have further
questions, please contact Beth Fein at 698-4481 or bsfein@optonline.net. |
