In an emergency, school
closing or delayed opening, the district will make every
effort to communicate with you via the most relevant and
available means, including:
·
An
automated phone message using Connect Ed.
·
A recorded
message on 220-EMER (220-3637).
Please do not call the
schools or police.
·
Local
radio and television stations.
Radio stations WVOX (1460 AM), WFAS (1230 AM) and others
carry school cancellation notices from 6:30-9:00 am.
·
The
district website:
www.mamkschools.org
When weather is
uncertain, the superintendent may call a delayed opening
of two hours. Radio stations should also carry this
information, as well as any pertinent information regarding
transportation outside the district, if it differs
from the district's own "bad weather" schedule (e.g.,
Mamaroneck District public schools may have a delayed
opening, while transportation to schools outside the
district may be canceled. This is because surrounding
school districts may have more severe or treacherous weather
conditions than we.) Please make contingency plans for your
children; children cannot be left at school since teachers
and administrators will not be arriving until the delayed
opening of school.
In an extreme emergency the Superintendent of Schools may
dismiss school early. Every effort will be made to alert
parents via the means listed above.
