Welcome to Third Grade

Welcome to the 3^rd Grade! Visit our classrooms and look at the overview which has been designed to give you more specific information on changes that you and your child will experience in the upcoming year.

SPECIALS

Each 3rd grade class attends the following "specials" every week. Children leave their classroom and attend the special in its own instructional space (i.e. artroom, music room, etc.):

• Art – 45 minutes a week. Children need a smock with their name on it.
• Physical Education – 30 minutes, three times a week. Children need to wear or bring sneakers. Children should not wear tevas, sandals or hiking boots for safety reasons.
• Music – 30 minutes a week. In late spring, the band and string teachers introduce each 3^rd grade class to a variety of string and band instruments. 3^rd graders may sign up to learn an instrument and participate in the string or band program beginning in the 4^th grade.
• Library – 30 minutes a week. 3rd grade children can check out 3 books a week. It is the child's responsibility to bring the books back every week. If the child forgets to bring back his/her library books, he/she is not allowed to check out different books that week.

FAMILY LIFE AND SEX EDUCATION

In the 3rd grade, two sessions of health education are held with the focus on good touch/bad touch. A note from the health teacher will be sent home before the first session begins.
