Text Box: Text Box: Adopt-a-Panda saved nine pandas this year!
Yangtze, a stuffed panda on display across form the office, is the new school mascot.
People are discussing exactly what this Panda stands for – please tell us your ideas.
We also promoted the idea of boycotting Canadian seafood because the government there is permitting the hunting of seals to near extinction.

Mamaroneck Flood Relief

Text Box:

Text Box: The Reading Mentors worked with Mrs. Sanders learning to teach younger children how to read.  They worked with children in Mrs. Josephson’s 3rd and Mrs. Slade’s 2nd grades.

The mentors held a book drive to support The Harlem Store Front School.  We brought them 1,500 books, read with first graders and made some friends in a kitchen built by Emeril.

Text Box:      After the flood devastated our sister school at Mamaroneck Avenue and the area around it, the CCC helped mobilize the Chatsworth Community.  We sponsored a huge drive to collect clothing, food, toys and other essentials.  The community’s response was terrific!
Because the distribution services were overwhelmed, we set up a tag sale.  Community generosity and the enthusiastic participation of children, parents, custodians, teachers and staff raised $1,000 to buy gift certificates.

The rest of the goods are being given to Mrs. Darlene Green of 815 Howard Street.  A flood victim herself, Mrs. Green has set up her front yard as a distribution center for her neighbors.
If you find you have quality goods you would like to give just drop it off for Mrs. Green or contact, Anne Avenius at 835-2776.  She works with Habitat for Humanity and the St. Augustine’s Church.
