“The Ultimate Building Block”

Ever wanted something to build with? If you did not, now you do because you can get Legos. LEGO is the ultimate building blocks ever!

More then 300 million children and adults have played or play with Legos. That is a lot of people! The founder of LEGO is Ole Kirk Christiansen, in Billund, Denmark. Legos were made in a whole different continent. Ole Kirk Christiansen made Legos in 1932.

The word LEGO comes from two Danish words “LEg” and “GOdt”, meaning, “play well”. Also in Latin LEGO means “I put together”.

The LEGO Company must be very popular. Do you know why? That is because the LEGO brand is one of the children’s top five brands. The LEGO Company is committed to the development of children’s creative and imaginative abilities. Did you know that the LEGO group has 50 companies in 29 countries? Also did you know that the LEGO Company is the 4th largest Toy Company in the world? I think the biggest Toy Company in the world is Bandi.

The biggest LEGO set ever is a star wars set. The set is called is called the Imperial Star Destroyer. The ship is over 3 feet long, over 23 inches wide and is 16 and one-half inches tall! Also it has 3,104 pieces, to be exact. That ship has a lot of pieces and it is very long.

I did a survey of some 5th graders in Central School. Did you know that only one out of the ten people I surveyed said they did not like to play with Legos? Before I surveyed the people I thought all of them would say that they liked to play with Legos. I learned that a lot of people are creative. All of the people I surveyed said that their first LEGO set when they were 3,4 and 5. Six out of the ten people said that they don’t play with Legos any more and four out of the ten people said that they still play with Legos. Seven out of ten people said that they don’t have LEGO soccer or LEGO basketball and three out of ten people said that they have LEGO soccer or LEGO basketball.

LEGO is “the toy of the century.” It went from wooden toys to plastic bricks. If you are going to get a building set, get Legos.
